Agreements For Erotic Massage Are Unique
This visual emerged after many hours of reflection, practice, and deep inquiry into how Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent could evolve to honour the unique dynamics of erotic massage.
As a practitioner, I’ve long observed that many clients, after experiencing the safety, presence, and sensual depth of an embodied session, feel an organic desire not just to receive touch, but to give it in return. Not in a transgressive or boundary-pushing way, but as a natural expression of mutual connection and trust.
Yet the original Wheel of Consent didn’t quite accommodate this space. It was built around polarity:someone gives, someone receives. In erotic massage, where connection deepens and roles can gently shift, something else was needed to honour the fact that everything is for the client's pleasure.
This version centres the two-way flow of erotic touch, grounded in the understanding that intention and agreement shape everything. The four quadrants remain rooted in consent principles, but they allow for a more mutual and co-created experience:
- Give Gift: The therapist offers touch for the client's benefit.
- Take Gift: The client offers touch for their own enjoyment, with clear agreement.
- Receive Gift: The client accepts touch that is offered for their pleasure.
- Allow Gift: The therapist permits the client to touch, in service of the client’s experience.
What changes here is clarity of invitation. Every action is framed by mutual consent, named and known in advance. The therapist never owes receptivity, but can choose to receive touch with sovereignty and presence.
The client is never expected to give touch, but is empowered to, when it arises from genuine desire and shared agreement.

Although we are not going to "have sex", it is a sexual experience so hear what Justin Lehmiller and Gabrielle say about good casual sex. It applies to our session because its about communicating authentically during intimacy.
Initiating "doing stuff" will be hornier for you, because you will explore boundary-fluidity instead of only accepting my suggestions. For example, you might say "Can you gently tug and blow on my ears?", "I would like you to watch me undress to the Pink Panther theme" or "My feet are cold, please can you put something over them?". You are guiding me in what you desire, moment-by-moment.
Taking pleasure from touching me is allowed and it doesn't have to be sexual. For example, you might ask "Can I run my fingers over your chest hair?" or I might offer "Would you like to embrace my waist?" . I encourage you to take it gradually at first and see where it takes us in conscious connection, checking-in about how it is flowing for both. The bottom line is that if I grant access to my body then it is agreed, and primarily for your pleasure.

Reading this stuff might feel uncomfortable if you're not that sex-positive yet but stick with it. There are three overall themes (change your mind, even during the session):
- No domination (the default): You want me to check-in with you as we go, making offers and you making requests as it progresses.This works best if you looking for a very conscious experience and are less submissive by nature because you will be directing me (to an extent); up to you how you feel on the day and you can switch between the two.
- Healing: (a check-box): You want a massage that is more about helping you feel more connected and confident, perhaps after experiencing something unhelpful in the past that has left you feeling sexually disconnected and/or anxious. There is a bit more here.
- Domination (a check-box): The idea of submitting to me turns you on. We agree how that needs to look so you feel safe and cared for still. We will certainly agree a safe word that isn't "Stop" but something I wouldn't expect to hear such as "Cactus" or whatever. People often combine it with exploring kinks, role-play or impact-play. It is important to note that this is not full domination. I will enjoy doing it, but our intention is not a gift of pleasure for me.

Soften Again — and Deepen
If you’re ready to continue, I’ll invite you to lie on your back — supported and draped for comfort. You may wish to use a blindfold at this stage, to deepen your internal focus and heighten other senses.
Now we explore the front of your body with care and attention. If you choose, this may include chest and breast massage, face and neck touch, and eventually, optional exploration of your most intimate areas — always in response to your body, your breath, and your signals.
Hand-holding, verbal check-ins, and subtle gestures guide the energy here. If you choose to touch me back, that is welcomed — not expected — and always framed within a dynamic of mutual presence, not performance.
